Position Overview

As a Service Technician, you are the face of Fire & Ice in the customer’s home. Your job is to communicate, diagnose, repair, and educate, not just swap parts. You’ll handle primarily residential service calls, with some light commercial, and you’ll be expected to communicate clearly, work efficiently, and offer solutions—not excuses. We value technicians who are strong problem-solvers, clear communicators, and who think in terms of systems—not shortcuts.

Success in this role is measured by customer satisfaction, efficiency on calls, quality of documentation, and consistent adherence to company standards.

What You’ll Be Doing

Customer-Facing Service

  • Identify system issues and clearly explain options to customers
  • Present repair and upgrade recommendations ethically and professionally
  • Deliver a professional, respectful experience in every home

Technical Work

  • Diagnose and repair residential HVAC systems (gas furnaces, ACs, heat pumps, boilers, mini-splits)
  • Perform service calls and prioritize repair work

Internal & Process Responsibilities

  • Complete accurate service notes, photos, and documentation
  • Maintain a clean, stocked, and organized service vehicle
  • Follow company SOPs, safety standards, and best practices
  • Work with dispatch and management to keep the day moving smoothly
  • Participate in training and skill development (technical & communication)

Required Qualifications

Licenses & Certifications

  • EPA 608 Certification (required within 90 days)
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record

Technical Skills & Experience

  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Basic electrical and refrigeration knowledge
  • Strong people skills and the ability to communicate professionally with customers

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs
  • Ability to work in attics, basements, crawlspaces, and other tight spaces

Preferred (Not Required, But a Plus)

These are helpful, not deal-breakers. We will train the right person who brings the right attitude and work ethic.

  • 2+ years HVAC service experience (more is better)
  • Experience with ServiceTitan or similar software
  • Sales-minded service background (ethical, consultative—not pushy)
  • Gas boiler or hydronic experience
